Q: When Will The Gates Open?

A: The South Gate located on 428 Challenger Avenue off of U.S. 62 will open at 8:30 a.m. both days for general public admission for non-DOD card holders. The Main Gate off of Falcon Road can be utilized by DOD card holders.

Q: WHAT KIND OF BAGS, BACKPACKS, PURSES, AND/OR COOLERS ARE ALLOWED INTO THE AIR SHOW?

A: Each attendee may carry one large clear bag - a commercially purchased clear bag or a one-gallon resealable style bag - or a small clutch/fanny pack size bag for personal items. Small camera bags will be allowed. ALL bags will be searched at both access points
Q: WILL HANDICAP PARKING BE AVAILABLE?

A: Yes, there will be designated portions of the parking lot for properly-tagged handicapped vehicles. Please have your handicap placard readily available when entering the installation.
Q: IS TAILGATING ALLOWED?

A: No, parking lots are reserved for transiting to and from the show only.
Q: DO I NEED A MILITARY ID?

A: No, this event is open to the public. Non-DOD card holders will be allowed to enter through the South Gate located off of U.S. 62.

Q: WILL I BE ABLE TO LEAVE AND RETURN FROM THE AIR SHOW?

A: Yes, however all inbound traffic lanes for entry to the installation will be closed at 2:00 p.m.
Q: DO THE FOOD AND SOUVENIR VENDORS TAKE CARDS?
A: All food vendors will take cards. We recommend bringing cash in the event souvenir vendors do not accept card payments.

Q: WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINKS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE?

A: Yes, there will be food, drinks, alcoholic drinks for those of legal age and souvenirs available throughout the show area for purchase. There will be free water fountains available to fill up reusable water bottles.
Q: ARE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED?

A: Alcoholic beverages may be purchased at the event, with proper I.D. You may NOT bring alcoholic beverages into the air show.
Q: WILL THERE BE RESTROOMS AND FACILITIES AT THE SHOW?

A: Yes, there will be restrooms for use at the show. A nursing area will be available in the STEM fair event space.

Q: WILL THERE BE ANY SHADE?

A: Shade will be available in the STEM fair event space. 
Q: WILL THERE BE ANYTHING FOR YOUNG CHILDREN TO DO THERE?

A: Several installation, local, and state organizations will be hosting interactive booths at the STEM fair during the event. This will be a great opportunity for children and families to interact with a variety of STEM related career fields and learn about the opportunities in the future while having hands-on fun.

Q: WILL THERE BE ANY MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED?

A: There will be a medical tent on site to treat minor injuries. Emergency response personnel will be on scene to provide medical transport if necessary.

Q: CAN I TAKE PICTURES, VIDEOS, OR LIVESTREAM FROM MY MOBILE DEVICE?

A: Yes, you may take photos, videos, and livestream from mobile devices.
Q: HOW CAN MY BUSINESS BE INVOLVED IN THE AIR SHOW?

Q: CAN I PARK ON BASE AND WALK TO SHOW OUTSIDE THE MAIN PARKING LOT?

A: If you are a DOD ID holder, you may park outside of the main parking lot to access the show. Several shuttles will be available on base to transport DOD ID card holders from various areas around the installation to and from the show.
Q: ARE PETS ALLOWED?

A: No. Only certified service animals are allowed at the event.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T FIND MY CHILD?

A: All children will be given a wristband upon entry to the event for parents to write their contact information on. If a parent or guardian cannot find their child, the lost child tent will be located next to the Kids Zone.
Q: WILL I BE ABLE TO SMOKE OR VAPE TOBACCO?

A: Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.

Q: WILL THERE BE ANY EXPEDITED SCREENING LANES?

A: No, all visitors will go through the same screening process prior to being allowed entrance to the show.

Q: CAN YOU BRING A WHEELCHAIR?

A: Yes, you can bring a wheelchair.
Q: ARE WATER BOTTLES ALLOWED TO BE BROUGHT IN?

A: Empty reusable water bottles and sealed water bottles under one liter in volume are allowed.
Any opened bottles with liquid inside will need to be empty prior to entering the screening area.

Q: WHERE CAN I PARK FOR THE EVENT?

A: All parking will be on base for the event. Overflow parking will be available at the Jackson Co. Expo Center. 
Q: WHEN ARE AIRCRAFT ARRIVING?

A: Due to operational security, we will not be releasing information on when aircraft are arriving for the show.
Q: DO I NEED AN ID?

A: You do not need an ID to enter the event. IDs will only be checked at the Main Gate which is only open to DOD ID card holders.

  • The South Gate located at 428 Challenger Ave. will open at 8:30 a.m. for guests without a DOD ID.

    General parking will be available on the installation. In the event overflow parking is needed, guests will be directed to park at the Great Plains Stampede Rodeo grounds and receive shuttle service onto the installation.

    The South Gate will switch to supporting outbound traffic only at 2:30 p.m.

  • The DOD ID cardholder entrance for the event will be located at the Altus AFB Main Gate on Falcon Road. Trusted traveler will be implemented on April 12 & 13 only, so DOD ID cardholders may escort guests in their vehicle onto the installation without a visitor’s pass.

    The Main Gate will continue operating 24/7, but please note access to the event ramp will not be authorized until 8:30 a.m.

    DOD ID cardholders entering through the Main Gate may park at the Commissary, Base Exchange, or Club Altus parking lots. Starting at 8:30 a.m., shuttles will run continuously until 5:00 p.m. to transport guests from the parking areas to and from the event entrance.

    Additionally, shuttles will run from various stops in the base housing area to the event entrance beginning at 8:30 a.m. Designated parking lots for DOD ID cardholders wishing to walk to the event are located in the blue boxes on the attached DOD ID Cardholder Parking Map. 

    Handicap parking for DOD ID cardholders will be available at all parking lots with shuttle service available. Please note the shuttles are not wheelchairs accessible, but drivers may drop individuals off close to the DOD ID cardholder entrance and then proceed to park in a shuttle lot or pedestrian lot. 

    The DOD ID cardholder entrance is located between Base Ops (Bldg. 185) and the Fire Department (Bldg. 186) and is depicted by a yellow circle in the DOD ID Cardholder Parking Map. 

    When leaving through DOD ID cardholder entrance and exit be sure to have your DOD ID badge on your person.

    • Weapons of any kind (guns, knives, replicas or toys, defense sprays, stun-guns, martial arts weapons, etc.)

    • Alcohol

    • Ice Chests/Coolers (unless medically necessary)

    • Pets (service animals OK)

    • Glass containers

    • Bikes, Skates, or other modes of transportation (unless medically necessary)

    • Drones/walkie talkies/HAM radios/Scanners

    • Lasers/Laser Pointers

    • Spray Paint/Silly String/Balloons

    • Canopies/Tents/Large Umbrellas

    • Personal cooking equipment

    • Explosives (to include fireworks)

    • Drugs / THC products (to include Marijuana even if you have a green card)

    • No outside food or drink

    • No frisbees, baseballs, footballs or other sporting equipment that can be thrown

    • Each attendee may carry oneclear bag and one clutch

    • 1x large clear bag - a commercially purchased clear bag or a one-gallon Ziploc style bag

    • 1x small clutch for personal items - can be up to 4.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide and is not required to be clear

    • Diaper bags can contain food and drink for small children

    • Camera bags are allowed but will be subject to search upon entry

    • ALL Bags will be searched at both Access Points

    The Altus Air Force Base 2025 Open House and Air Show aims to provide opportunities for education and generate interest in the military and its role in national security. By attending our air show audience members get a unique and close look at the crucial capabilities and preparedness of our armed forces.
